How to Get Rid of Forehead Wrinkles

Getting rid of forehead wrinkles is basically the same process outlined in “How to get rid of wrinkles.”  Through exfoliation, moisturization, and renewing creams, you can stimulate you skin renew itself and replace the old wrinkles with new smooth skin.

Forehead wrinkles tend to be very deep and become noticeable early in life.  In fact, even teens get them.  The forehead gets a lot of sun and shows a lot of expression, two of the major causes of wrinkling.  Deep horizontal lines across the mid forehead and vertical line between the eyebrows (often called “11’s”) are the most common complaints.

These fine lines seem to turn into deep wrinkles all to quickly.  It’s best to treat them as soon as they are noticed.  If they are already deep it will take a lot of exfoliation to reduce them.  Use a microdermabrasion treatment like a scrub, wand, or cloth to remove dead skin and the first layer of skin.  Also, treat the area with a chemical peel, lotion, or serum.  Use a product that contains alpha hydroxy acids like glycolic acid.  You can alternate these exfoliation methods or combine them for maximum effect.  Be careful not to start scrubbing and peeling aggressively, as you can cause scarring and skin thickening, which can make the problem worse.

Exfoliation alone won’t reduce or eliminate forehead wrinkles.  After heavy exfoliating, the skin needs to be moisturized and treated with an anti wrinkle cream or serum that contains skin rebuilding active ingredients like vitamins, antioxidants, retinoids, or copper peptides.  Finding a forehead wrinkle cream can be difficult if you are prone to break outs, so look for lighter options like serums or lotions.

A lot of wrinkling occurs while we sleep and this is very true for forehead wrinkling.  You may have woken up with deep lines across your forehead that look as if you’ve had your eyebrows raised all night!  There is a quick trick to stop this but it isn’t that attractive.  You can use medical tape across your forehead in an X shape.  This way, when you scrunch you forehead, the skin can’t form lines.  Not too comfy or cute, but it works.  This is sort of a low tech version of Frownies, which do the same thing only better by gently tugging the wrinkle apart.  Check your forehead right away in the morning if you think sleep time wrinkling are accelerating your forehead lines.

The forehead gets a lot of sun!  If you aren’t a fan of full face sun screen because it is too heavy, consider applying some just on the forehead and nose, as these areas tend to burn the easiest.  Mineral makeup is gaining popularity because it treats the skin with zinc oxide and also because it is a sunscreen.  At a bare minimum, use sunscreen on these two areas when you know you’ll be out in the midday sun.  If you are treating your wrinkles with acids, sunscreen is simply essential.  Acids cause your skin to become photosensitive and burn far faster than normal.  There really is not point in peeling off wrinkles if you further damage the treated skin with UV from the sun.

You can be one of the people who’ve successfully removed or reduced their forehead lines.  They can problematic because they are so deep, but with enough exfoliation and patience, they will begin to fade away.
